Formed over the course of 5 years at the University of Wisconsin: Madison, MIHNA is what happens when the city's indie side-men start their own project after backing up so many others. From this shared history, the band's effortless rhythmic power is born, having spent countless hours laying rock solid foundations for other artists to build upon. The group, comprised of Henry Ptacek (drums), Dante Turkow (guitar | vox), Max Newcomer (keys | vox | production), and Charlie Palm (bass | vox | production), has come to develop an organic, homegrown, and altogether unique sound, inspired by artists such as Mk.gee, Dijon, D'Angelo, and Nu Genea. Hesitant to be genre-classified, MIHNA is usually referred to as something along the lines of 'pop but not quite', working in and out of the box provided by the 60s post-bop era, the 70s motown movement, the 2000s RnB revival, and anything that catches their ear today.

After being put on hold fresh after their founding in 2020 and being split up by the distance between graduation years, MIHNA was formed anew in the wilderness of Manotiwsh Waters, Wisconsin, where the band laid tape in one weekend for their first EP, and agreed to move down to Chicago together come the fall.

Their first track "Mr. Homebody" was actually written before the pandemic set in, and got its timely release shortly after lockdowns began. Followed two years later by their summery and danceable second release, "June", the band recalls the insane live music bounceback of the summer of 2021, and the wild and free shows that every member had a part in playing, all separate from one another. Their new EP is set to release sometime in early 2024, and will closely track the bands stylistic and artistic growth.
